Blue-Nose Pitbull - Oreo

In Feb of 2009 I got the most beautiful Blue-Nose Pit I had always seen. Unfortunately that beautiful puppy had a lot of behavioral issues: constantly chewing things, jumping on furniture (uninvited), always in everyone's personal space (jumping up at their faces).

She actually chipped my aunt's tooth. Also Oreo was very animal aggressive, and us having two other dogs in the family it became a huge problem. Oreo got into 3 or four really bad fights with our 14 year old boxer/pit mix, who quite honestly couldn't cover it anymore. And neither could I. I was fed up with her, ready to get rid of her. Since I had gotten her she brought nothing but problems and a lot of stress. Always bolting out of the door, nearly breaking it every time. Oreo was nothing but trouble. After explaining to my sister Trisha all of Oreo's awful habits, she is a dog trainer and she decided to serve us help Oreo. The first couple meetings with Trish we realized that Oreo wasn't necessarily a "bad dog". She just never had the boundaries set for her. It was time to "lay low the law". We took Oreo over to Trisha's house and later the 1st night I noticed that Oreo had great potential. She's a people pleaser, so anything that we told her to do she did it with great enthusiasm. After a week or two Oreo knew all the rudiments of training (i.e. off, sit, down, come and place. By week three she knew heel and all the former commands wonderfully. After nearly two months of consistent 20-30 minute dog training sessions everyday Oreo was often better. Getting rid of her wasn't still an option. Trish basically saved Oreo's life. If I would have gotten rid of her I'm sure she would have been put to rest because of how hyper and aggressive she could have been. Now Oreo lives a happy trained life. She loves to make her photograph taken which is extremely helpful for an aspiring photographer. Visit our Pitbull page to see other photos of this great breed including Pitbull crosses.
